FMF – Rest

Hello from the other side

Sorry, I just read an article about Adele’s Glastonbury performance 😂

How is your weekend so far?
It’s nearly time to begin a new week of school…scary though is that in about 3 weeks the schools break up for the summer..yikes!
I am fairly certain I am not at all prepared for the joy that is the 6 week holidays 😒 in fact I know I am not!

But hey-ho each week is bringing us closer to our holiday..so there are plus sides to everything, right?!

Alrighty, time for this weeks five minute Friday.

image

Excuse my tardiness, you know how it is..life just gets in the way 😊

You know how it goes, we take time out each week to free write on a given prompt for five minutes..no spell checks or erasing 😬

And as usual I am joining in with kate and her link up of lovely writers.

This weeks prompt – rest

Ready, set, go

My name is Charlotte, and I don’t rest.

I just keep going.

Sometimes not resting puts me in an awful mood.

So you would think that would motivate me into resting right?!
Wrong!

I push myself.
I put pressure on myself.

I figure that I need to get everything done..right away when it needs doing and I just end up in a never ending loop of chores and cooking.

By which point it’s 8pm and I haven’t relaxed or had dinner.
Even when the kids are sleeping rest seems to evade me in some way.

Mostly I just don’t seem to realise just how important rest is to my health.
Not just physically but mentally.

image

Rest is so good.
It’s good for your brain.
It’s good for your heart.
It’s good for your soul.

I can’t help but wonder how much less stressed I would be if I allowed myself the time to rest.

Do you stop to rest?
Do you allow yourself just to switch off from the world for a few minutes?

Even ask write this am not resting.
I am picking up toys and sorting out homework.

There is a saying that goes “there is no rest for the wicked”

If that is true I must be really wicked! 😉

Stop.

The big anniversary weekend

Hey guys,

So I am little later than I had hoped in making a photo post from my parents anniversary weekend…you know how life gets in the way?!

Basically my mum put me on camera duty for the weekend..don’t get me wrong I love my camera, but I just wanted to relax you know?!

However my mum can be ridiculously persuasive!

My mum is not the type to just let you wing it..oh no no, she wanted specific.
When there are 18 people all in one place it can get tricky to get specifics, but I think I got it 😊

I am fairly certain I took hundreds of shots, it just tricky to choose 😂

And I managed to relax somewhat…you know what with chasing kids around and such 😂

But I got to spend time with all of my brothers and my sister..which we haven’t done in a long time ❤

Tell me do you have siblings?

I remember growing up in house with 7 other people, there was never a dull moment or even a quiet one!

You would think it would have got me used to being around people 😂😂

Have a great weekend

FMF • want

Bonjour 😊

Happy weekend to you all!

Now I don’t know if remember, but a few weeks back I mentioned we were thinking of booking a trip to France with the kids…well we finally did it!!
We have a gite about an hour away from Paris, and the girls are ridiculously excited about Disneyland (as I am I!!).
I have a feeling that I am going to hear about it right up until we arrive 😂

image

Miss Bella went to Disney in 2012, but doesn’t remember a lot.
I have a sneaky suspicion this will be a trip to remember!

It has been so long since we have been abroad (4 years) so I am looking forward to some much needed r+r.

Ooh by the way keep your eyes peeled for my holiday special blogs.
I may do some in the run up to it 😊

Alright then, let’s get to the task at hand.
It’s time for another five minute Friday.

As you know I am joining in with Kate and her linkup for five minutes of free writing.

This weeks prompt – want

Ready, set, go

Aah want, a four letter word I hear everyday.

“Mummy I want juice”
“I want a biscuit”
“I want to sit there!”
“I want a snack”
“I want to put my own shoes on”
“I want to do it myself”
“I want dinner..I want a different dinner”
“I want to watch telly”
“I want the shoes with the flashy lights”
“I want to go outside and play”

Then there is the other side of want..don’t want!

“I don’t want to brush my hair”
“I don’t want to go to school”
“I don’t want cereal”
“I don’t want to go to bed”
“I don’t want vegetables”
“I don’t want to do my homework!”
“I don’t want to eat my salad”

Often I answer with “what did your last slave die of?”
Ha! Have you ever heard that expression?
My mum used it all the time when I was younger!

When you are young, it’s safe to say you use want for everything!

Because you can’t quite differentiate between want and need 😊

Sometimes I feel like banning the word want!
Of making a “want” jar – every time they use the word want..a £1 goes in the jar!
I would be rich for sure!

Interestingly I want my kids to stop using the word want..hmm irony?!

Stop.

FMF – Haven

Well hello there!

My goodness it has been such a busy week!
The schools have been closed for the holiday, and it’s been my parents 25th wedding anniversary and mine and hubby’s 9 the wedding anniversary!

image

Not only that I got the pleasure of helping Bella to make a 3D model of our house!!
Yes you read that correctly…my 5 1/2 year old was asked to make a 3D model of our house!
I will admit it fun throwing ideas around, but come day 3 of colouring in I was being driven insane by cardboard and sharpie pens!
In fact if I never see another sharpie for a while I will be happy!

Literally worst homework ever! Give me spelling and reading any day..heck give me maths! ( *hint* I hate maths!)

And deep breath..rant over.

Alrighty, so I am back with another five minute friday
My favourite part of my week!
Even when I don’t get chance to write a post I love to pop over and read other people’s entries.
I really enjoy reading other people’s take on a word you know?!
It intrigues me 😊

Now I may be late with my writing this week – but I promise my excuse is valid 😉
We went away for the weekend with my family (18 of us altogether!) And we only got back this afternoon, hence I am just getting around to it!

image

I think you know how it goes by now 😊
I am joining in with Kate and her linkup of lovely writers – for five minutes of free writing yay!

This weeks prompt – haven

Ready, set, go

Do you have a safe haven?
I place you can retreat to and (almost) forget the world for a moment?

It doesn’t have to be a place.
It can be a book
Or a memory
Or a hobby

Just something or somewhere for you that makes you feel safe and comfortable.

I have some.

One place I like to retreat is here –

image

Behind my camera I can escape and free.
Free from my inner pain and turmoil.
My safe haven.

Point and click. Joy 😊

You can see so much clearer the beauty of the world, when you don’t have the weight of the world on your shoulders

Taking a few moments away from the everyday to bury myself in my safe haven has done a lot for my happiness.

Without it who knows where I would be.
Would I be able to capture beauty as easily with my naked eye?

Perhaps, in a memory.

But being able to look back on it each day brings me happiness.
Brings me joy.
I am truly blessed to be able to have a haven to go to in times of sadness or distress.

But I am going to repeat my first question.

Do you have a safe haven?

I hope you do 😊
Because sometimes we all need that little place to escape to.

Stop.
